Promote the importance of soil, a non-renewable natural resource over the time span of a human life. This is the “Heart and Soil” objective, the exhibition event at the FAO Headquarters in Rome born from the need to animate and contaminate in an artistic sense the Fifth Plenary Assembly of the World Soil Alliance, (Global Soil Partnership, GSP).

The theme was also declined through contemporary art with a collective of internationally renowned artists. The urgency to protect the soil as an element of primary importance for life, which has always been dear to artists, has developed through the use of various pictorial, photographic and sculptural techniques with a focus on the increasing rate of degradation of global soils and the consequences that it matters in terms of contamination, threats to biodiversity and loss of ecosystem services essential to life on earth. Art becomes a flywheel, a necessary tool to correlate scientific topics with visual, tactile, and conceptual emotions.
